Seed brief: Fifteen Days

Spoilers through chapter 19 while the script's beat 6 on-screen line (after c19-b124) is in; everything else here stays inside chapter 15. Model-drafted (by the coding agent, 2026-10-14) from the owner's notes Fifteen Days, second version and the book's text. Structure and citations only: every published word of the piece is the owner's. Anything not in the book is marked invented.

The adaptation: Firemoon 10, the day of the semi-finals, and seven days later. Zei meets Deluin after their games, they take tea in the courtyard, Deluin invites him to Redshire, and Zei jokes that he can afford it in fifteen days. A week later Redshire has been invaded, and Zei waits in the hotel's lobby restaurant for a reply. The owner's version adds two things the book doesn't say: Bai and Zei share a hurt neither has forgiven, and Deluin was quietly asked to get close to Dzego's best young players. Bai watches, and suspects. The piece never confirms anything.

2. What the book gives, and what must be invented

Given: the whole of the day's surface (breakfast, the games, the corridor, the courtyard, the menu, the invitation, the pictures, the speech, the joke) and the vigil's reply. Bai and Zei's rivalry, its three hints of something more, her grief and her work for Den's people.

Invented (owner's decisions, 2026-10-14):

  • Bai and Zei share an old, unforgiven hurt. Which one is still open (§4, question 1).
  • Deluin was quietly asked, by his parents' circle, to get close to the best young players. Soft: networking he half believes in, not espionage. He doesn't know the invasion's date.
  • Bai is suspicious of Deluin. Each of his tells has an innocent reading; nothing is confirmed.
  • Bai is present at the tea, at the table and then at the next one (draft 1: the middle path).
  • The sugar-cube wall with a door in it, the look between Bai and Deluin, the message Deluin sends at the gate, and Bai at the vigil.

No canon: nothing here becomes a fact of the edition; it is one reader's version.

Chapter 19 (only the narration at the gate)

What Blocks
"That day was his last Minpentai game, the semifinal against Gun"; Zei's record of the day c19-b124

3. The cut in the owner's draft 1 (2026-10-14)

There are seven beats, from the owner's edit of draft 1 in script.md. They hold 507 words of dialogue and no narration: picture and dialogue carry the piece. That's about four minutes with the silent beats.

  1. The walls hold (optional opener):
    • Deluin plays Kau; Bai and Zei watch from the waiting room.
  2. The corridor:
    • Zei and Deluin compliment each other and agree on tea for later.
    • Bai voices her doubt ("He's your competition, remember?").
  3. The café:
    • Bai is already laughing at the table with Deluin.
    • The robot and the menu, in the book's own words (c14-b105–c14-b119).
    • Bai makes an excuse and moves to the next table.
  4. The question and the sugar wall:
    • "Why does Dzego like Minpentai so much?"
    • Redshire's quirks, and the flicked cube.
  5. Redshire and fifteen days:
    • The invitation; "about fifteen days".
    • Deluin offers to pay, and invites Bai; Dreadnaught.
  6. The gate:
    • The chant (c12-b93); ten fingers, then five.
    • Deluin sends a message.
    • On screen, over Zei walking to Bai's table: the owner's line after c19-b124.
  7. The vigil:
    • Zei's fifth message; Bai sits down.
    • The replies (c15-b50, c15-b53, c15-b55).
    • Zei turns the screen to Bai; cut on her face.

4. Questions, as the draft leaves them

Settled by draft 1:

  • Bai at the tea (old question 2): the middle path. She is at the table first, then moves to the next one.
  • The ending (old question 3): Bai's face.
  • Narration (old question 6): none. Picture and dialogue carry the piece, and the narrator voice is out of the cast (owner's edit). The cut narration is kept in §5.
  • The look between Bai and Deluin (old question 4): cut. "You can come too Bai!" does that job now (owner, 2026-10-14).
  • The c19-b124 line (owner, 2026-10-14): now on-screen text in the owner's words, "That day was his last Minpentai game- the last day when his life was somewhat normal.", over Zei walking to Bai's table. The gate runs: the chant; ten fingers, then five; Deluin alone sends the message; cut to Zei walking to Bai's table at dusk, with the line on screen.
  • The empty Zei line after "Zei sits": removed (owner, 2026-10-14).
  • Kau: singular now, "That other loser is toast" (owner's edit).
  • The vigil card: the place only, Pafogai Du, Dzego (c15-b48). The book gives that section no date.

Still open, for the owner:

  1. The hurt. What did Zei do to Bai, and what did she do back? The draft only hints at it ("you know I hate you", "'Was.'"), which may be enough.
  2. The title, due Thursday evening: A Door in the Wall, Fifteen Days, or another.
  3. Length. About four minutes after the edit (507 words), against the plan's three. Trim further, or keep?
  4. Dreadnaught. Where is the band first set up? Options: leaking from Bai's headphones in the waiting room (beat 1), or in the corridor. (Item 3.)
  5. Bai's interrogation. Is it revealed here or later? (Item 4.)
  6. Voices not yet described. The robot waiter needs your description. So far your takes cover Bai and Deluin. Will you also perform Zei and the robot?
  7. Deluin's chant. In the book, all the contestants say "Dze go ba fau gie" in unison (c12-b93). In the draft, Deluin says it alone, to Zei, at the gate. Is that what you intend?

5. Audiobook notes (outside the script)

Narration cut from the piece in the owner's edit (2026-10-14), kept here for an audio-only version. Not spoken in the video.

  • After the hall, before the waiting room: c14-b91 "Deluin did not build any mobile symbol-carrying spaceships. Instead, he simply fortified."
  • At the end of the opener: c14-b94 "Ten thousand two hundred turns into the game, Deluin was announced the winner."
